The Integrated Labour Force Survey (ILFS) 2013/14 is the third comprehensive labour force survey undertaken in Swaziland. This survey was designed to inform decision makers on policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation pertaining to the current status of the labour market in the country.
Key results from the survey are:
- Official unemployment rate stands at 28.1% for both sexes, 24.4% for males and 32.2% for females. The unemployment rate varied across regions with the highest value of 37.5% in Shiselweni. The rural unemployment rate was 15 percentage points higher than the urban rate.
- Former relaxed unemployment rate stands at 41.8%.
- The unemployment rate for youth stands at 51.6%.
