National Accounts Report 2015

The CSO has updated its benchmark year to 2011 and revised and rebased the GDP time series for the years 2000 to 2011. Key results can be found here: Key Results National Accounts Report 2015. The National Accounts Report 2015 includes

  • 2011 Benchmark Estimates, including independent estimates for GDP by economic activity and expenditure, GDP by institutional sectors and GDP income components.
  • Rebased GDP Estimates 2000 to 2011, including independent estimates for GDP by economic activity and expenditure.
  • Provisional GDP Estimates 2012 to 2014.
  • Technical notes on data sources and methodology applied.

CPI February 2016

The headline inflation rate in February 2016 (i.e. the annual percentage change in the CPI in February 2016 compared with that of February 2015) for the country is 7.3%. This annual rate of inflation is 1.7 index points higher than the corresponding annual rate of 5.6% observed in January 2016. The month on month inflation rate (i.e. the percentage change in the CPI in February 2016 compared with that of January 2016) is 2.4%.

Labour Force Survey 2013/14

The Integrated Labour Force Survey (ILFS) 2013/14 is the third comprehensive labour force survey undertaken in Swaziland. This survey was designed to inform decision makers on policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation pertaining to the current status of the labour market in the country.

Key results from the survey are:

  • Official unemployment rate stands at 28.1% for both sexes, 24.4% for males and 32.2% for females. The unemployment rate varied across regions with the highest value of 37.5% in Shiselweni. The rural unemployment rate was 15 percentage points higher than the urban rate.
  • Former relaxed unemployment rate stands at 41.8%.
  • The unemployment rate for youth stands at 51.6%.
